Who is Smacking Left-Handed Pitching?
By Michael Williams (7/26/2006)
Left handed pitching has been dominating this
season. If a team has a lefty on the mound and going up against a right handed
pitcher, they have gone [284-242, +45 units] this season. A $1,000 bettor is
staring at a cool $45,000 from just that fact alone. But there are some teams
you do not want to go against when facing a lefty.
Detroit Tigers
You do not want to go against them ever, plain and simple. Not only are they
[18-7, +9 units] against lefties, they are [39-21, +16 units] against righties.
Texas Rangers
One of the best kept secrets in baseball and that is these Rangers are smacking
the heck out of lefties. The Rangers are only [43-42, -2.2 units] this season
but are [13-7, +6 units] against lefties.
New York Yankees
The Yankees are starting to create a legacy of smacking lefties around. As they
are +22 units against lefties over the previous 4 seasons coming into this one.
The Yankees are [16-8, +4.5 units] against lefties.
New York Mets
The Mets are only [38-28, +2.5 units] against righties. Seeing most of their
bankroll success against lefties. These Mets have gone [13-6, +4 units] against
lefties.
So if we were to redefine out betting angle above to take teams going against
right handed pitching with a lefty on the mound and NOT going up against either
the Tigers, Rangers, Yankees, or Mets, we have a betting angle that has gone
[262-206, +56 units]. Good luck in the second half of the baseball season.
