The Nets Sign Robinson for 18th Season
Clifford Robinson will play for another season with the New Jersey Nets. The Nets decided he was too valuable a player to lose even though he turned 40 and has been suspended twice in the past few years. Robinson, who has become a team staple, is valuable to the Nets for several reasons. He is a talented player, he has a good relationship with teammates, and he is a natural leader. He will be able to teach new players how to survive in the NBA. Robinson is a well known figure and player who can score for his team when he needs to.
Prior drug problems and other issues plagued Robinson for the past few seasons. But now he is back and has decided to take control of his life. Citing bad choices for the reasons, Robinson appears to have a positive attitude and is looking forward to the upcoming season. Unfortunately, many players succumb to drugs and other substance abuse problems while playing on pro ball teams. The pressure to constantly perform, to earn their big paychecks, and the allure of becoming part of an elite society, leave players suspended and in some cases, without jobs after a few seasons.
But Robinson has proven that he can play ball and lead a healthy lifestyle. After signing his new contract and passing a drug test, he is ready to be back out on the court for another season with the Nets. This should prove to be an interesting season filled with much excitement for Robinson and for other players as well.
