The Domination of Lefties in the 2006 MLB Season
By Michael Williams (5/29/2006)
Left-handed pitchers are dominating this season. Going for teams with a lefty on
the mound if facing a lefty has the highest win percentage it has than in the
past 4 full seasons. As an added bonus, it is winning money by going 145-129 +18
units so far this season.
There are only
two teams hitting lefties well this season. The Detroit Tigers and the New York
Yankees. The Tigers are boasting an [11-2, +9.2 unit] mark versus lefties while
the Yankees are boasting similar numbers [11-3, +7.2 units]. If you exclude
them, you see lefties are +35 units this season.
The Royals and
Pirates are a combined 1-26 versus lefties.
The Reds, who
have been hitting the smack out of the ball this season are only 10-9 versus
lefties (conversely 17-11 versus righties).
