Terry Robiskie Leaves Cleveland Browns
By Michael Williams (3/8/2007)
An undisclosed source revealed that Terry Robiskie who was the Cleveland Browns’ interim head coach for the final give games in 2004 and their current wide receivers coach, was not be returning to the Browns when the new season begins.
However, no one was surprised by this disclosure. It was rather expected and Robiskie’s departure will one of the many Browns will see before the new season begins. Everyone expected coach Romeo Crennel to overhaul his offensive staff.
This is Crennel’s second season with Browns and they went 4-12. The Browns ended up being ranked either last or second last in the NFL in many offensive categories.
Robiskie is 52 years old and he has been an NFL assistant coach since 1982 when he assisted with special teams for the Los Angeles Raiders. He has been with the Browns for six seasons. In 2004, Butch Davis was forced to resign and Robiskie took over from him and led the Browns to 1-4 record. When Crennel was hired in 2005, Robiskie stayed on with Browns and he spent the last two seasons working with the Browns’ wide receivers.
However, one of the wide receivers became quite an embarrassment to the Browns this season. Braylon Edwards was fined for coming late to team meetings, criticizing the team’s play calling and criticizing Brian Russell for hard hitting Cincinnati wideout Chad Johnson. Edwards also threw a tantrum on the sideline during on the team’s home games.
Already Crennel has a lot in his plate. He has to ensure that the Cleveland Browns perform while trying to manage troublesome players. In the two seasons that Crennel has been with the Browns, he went for 10-22 and there are indications that he would return the next season.
