Terrell Owens Has A Penchant For Trouble
By Michael Williams (2/9/2007)
Terrell Owens was fined $35,000 by the NFL for spitting in the face of Atlanta cornerback DeAngelo Hall during the game between the Cowboys and Falcons. Owens was fined twice the last fine for spitting. However, he managed to avoid a suspension.
The Dallas coach was not at all pleased with this behavior and went to add that the team might also punish Owens. However, he did indicate that Owens would not be suspended. Owens was not ejected from the game because the officials did not see him spitting at Hall.
Initially, Owens informed the NFL Network that he got frustrated and he wanted to apologize for his behavior. He said that Hall kept bugging him and getting into his face. A few days later Owens changed his story and insisted that the spitting incident was an accident and that he did not intentionally spit on Hall’s face. Owens palmed the blame on Hall saying that he was trying to make it seem more than what it was.
Owens other accident this season has been an accidental overdose that managed to land him in a hospital emergency room. His publicist denied a police report calling it a possible suicide attempt saying that Owens had 25 million reasons to live while referring to the $25 million dollar contract Owens had signed.
Last season, during a playoff game, Sean Taylor from Washington was ejected from the game for spitting at Michael Pittman of Tampa Bay. Taylor was fined $17,000. While Denver linebacker Bill Romanowski was fined $7,500 for spitting on J J Stokes, the 49ers’ receiver, and this took place in 1997.
Besides have 25 million reasons to live, it looks like Owens now has 35 thousand reasons never to spit on anyone’s face.
