Super Bowl Champions Celebrate And Wait For Next Season
By Michael Williams (3/8/2007)
Peyton Manning and Coach Tony Dungy are still bathing in the aftermath of the winning the Super Bowl. They have even received an invitation to come to the White House. But most of all they are being asked to repeat the entire Super Bowl episode next year.
Manning for the moment is just taking thing lightly and said come March he would out lifting weights and working out with his teammates. He said that as a player he wants to better himself and put up an even better performance next year.
Manning has already been causing a lot of headaches to opposing teams and a further improved Manning will cause them nightmares and sleepless nights.
Manning has come a long way and proved many critics wrong. He has shown that he has the ability to win big games which was quite a question mark before the Super Bowl. However, many tend to forget his other achievements. Manning has been in the NFL for nine years and is now considered a veteran. He holds the single season record for touchdown passes with 49 and he is the only quarterback in the history of NFL with 9-0 consecutive starts.
Manning will now be heading to Hawaii for Pro Bowl but then this is his seventh time. Manning said that previously he used to envious of the Super Bowl players who used to arrive late for the Pro Bowl and this year he would be envied by many in Hawaii.
Behind all the celebrations and basking in fame Indianapolis have an undertone of uncertainties. There are rumor adrift that Bill Polian, Colts president, and Tony Dungy would be leaving.
Polian was been trying to win the Super Bowl for nearly thirty years and this win on February 4, finally ended his quest. While Dungy became the first African American head coach to win the Super Bowl and he also won the Lombardi Trophy that he wanted to win for nearly 25 years.
However, Dungy laid to rest any rumors about him leaving. He said that he had all intentions of returning to Indianapolis when the new season begins. He further added that he was looking forward to helping the Colts defend their title.
As the good old saying goes – time will tell.
