Smart Teams
By Kris Lazaro (5/4/2007)
Smart teams are those that are educated and have a philosophy for advancing and winning. They know how the game is played and are often also veterans. A clear example of a smart team is the San Antonio Spurs. This veteran team lead by old-man Timothy Duncan is one of the NBA’s smartest teams. They do not commit many turnovers and simply know how to play and win a championship
Such teams are usually also playoff bound. As for the sports bettor, the gambler must almost always know which teams in the league are smart or not. On the whole, smart teams win more games than lose them. Such teams most of the time also have a solid capability to defend against intruders.
Smart teams will be less prone to committing turnovers, a fact that hurts most teams and eventually and potentially loses the game. With smart athletes also, coaches will be able to draw up complicated plays.
Another ‘smart’ team is the New England Patriots. This team is very methodical and deserves every praise that is given to them. Their defense is solid and their coaching staff is pure genius. Bill Belichick is like none-other in the league; he is one of the most successful coaches in the league.
Although a bachelor’s degree is not required to play professional sports, going and finishing college will go a long way for some players. Playing college ball will help mature an athlete in more ways than one. The author has a personal preference for players who at least stay in college for 2 years. Such players are more matured and play better team ball than those who went straight from college.
There is now a new rule in the NBA (national basketball association) that states that a player must at least go to college for 1 year before entering the association. This fact has now manifested itself during this past year’s tournament. This year’s freshman class was simply amazing.
In closing, it would be wise to back the smart teams over those less intelligent. Some players are smarter than other, while others do nothing to edify their situation.
