Season Totals - Bet the Under on the Steelers
By Michael Williams (2/14/2007)
Poor Steelers. The team followed up their historic Super Bowl win with a horrible season. Now they have lost their coach to retirement. What does this all mean?
You can kiss the good old days good bye. The Steelers will no longer be a dynasty. They will be mired in mediocrity for the next 10 years guaranteed. Cowher brought defense and a running game mentality that consistently wins football games. Year in and year out.
Maybe he had struggled in the playoffs but he was always brilliant in the regular seasons. This year, he struggled but that is the rarity.
Anyways, who is going to come in and help this team. You have a banged up Roethlisberger that will never return to his true form without Cowher. This is because Cowher knew how to get the most out of his QBs. Look at Kordell Stewart and Neil O'Donnell. They had career years under The Chin.
You have no-names at running back. The defense is highly dysfunctional. Cowher made them be good, play good, act as a team. Expect nothing from them right now with Bill.
If they stick with Big Ben, that would be the biggest mistake they could ever make. Ben is a system QB and nobody had a better system than Bill Cowher. My suggestion to the Steelers is to trade Big Ben while people believe he is good.
