Ray Allen Returns To Sonics Starting Lineup
By Kris Lazaro (5/9/2007)
After missing a game because of bone spurs in his left ankle, Ray Allen returned to Seattle SuperSonics’ starting lineup for the game against Charlotte Bobcats. Before the game, Allen did not make any comments.
However, according to coach Bob Hill, Allen is going to try and play the rest of the season with the spurs. Hill said that Allen’s ankle gets inflamed because of the spurs and he suffers a lot of pain. However, that does not stop him from playing and scoring points. Hill thinks that Allen is an outstanding professional. He said that he knows that most probably Allen would like nothing better than to rehabilitate this season but he is not planning on doing it.
Allen is 31 years old and he had missed the home game against the Los Angeles Clippers which the Sonics had won.
Allen’s playing time would be closely monitored to avoid causing extra stress on the ankle. He was scheduled to see a foot specialist and might still keep the appointment if he has pain after the game against the Bobcats.
Allen has been coping with soreness in his left ankle for the last one month. He has played 47 games this season and he is averaging 26.4 points, which is his career best and he is placed eighth in the NBA. Unfortunately for the Sonics, they have a record of 23-35 and have the last place in the Northwest Division.
The Sonics are all set to leave for a four game road trip to the East Coast.
