Phoenix Suns Want To Defeat San Antonio Spurs
By Michael Williams (3/6/2007)
The Phoenix Suns, with their 17 game win, are beginning to look like real contenders for the NBA title. However, this will get confirmed once they show their ability to beat the other elite teams of the Western Conference.
For the moment, the Suns are 0-4 against Dallas, San Antonio and Utah. These three teams are amongst the top five teams in the Western Conference. Suns’ fans will watch the games against San Antonio and Utah with bated breaths hoping their team can pull off wins against these two top teams.
The Suns started slow with 3-6 and suddenly their pulled their game up by several notches and won 33 of the their last 36 games. They had 15 wins in January which was an NBA record held by the Los Angeles Lakers team of 1962-63. The Suns are currently one game behind Dallas in the Western Conference.
Unfortunately for the Suns, their 17 game winning streak came to an end when they lost 121-112 against Minnesota recently. Coach Mike D’Antoni was very disappointed when this happened. He said that it was like losing a playoff game and he hopes that his team can start the whole process again.
Even though the Suns have had two winning streaks of 15 and 17 games, there are still doubts about their ability to beat the greats of the Western Conference. Most critics think that the Suns can not win a title because of their style of playing.
However, players like Raja Bell do not pay attention to what the critics have to say. He hopes that his teammates also do not pay attention to the critics. Contrary to what critics think and feel, Raja Bell believes that the Suns have it in them to defeat San Antonio.
