Phoenix Suns Not Happy With Winning
By Michael Williams (2/20/2007)
In their last 12 games, Phoenix Suns have won 12 times. However, after winning the recent game against the Trail Blazers the Suns were not happy. They walked back to the locker room at the US Airways Center with their heads hung and in silence.
Head Coach Mike D’Antoni explained why there were no smiles or high fives. He said that the Suns did not play that game well and the players did not focus on the job at hand. D’Antoni said that they well lucky to win the game without problems. He further stated that the Suns have to developed the mentality of winning the championship and they have to start it now.
Phoenix Suns started out the game slow. They let Trail Blazers score the first five point along with a 28-25 lead into the second quarter. This is the third game in which Suns have been outscored in the opening period. The Suns are considered to be the leagues best offensive team.
Guard Steve Nash concurred with his coach. He said that they were lucky to win. Nash scored 7 of his 13 points when one minute seventeen seconds were remaining for the end of the game. However, he helped the Suns to win their 31st game of the season. Nash said that the Suns relied on talent to win the game and it was just not good enough.
Nash further reiterated that it was difficult to keep focus over an 82 game season. Suns have won 28 out of their last 30 games and Nash giving them the second best record in the league. Nash, however, felt that the Suns could not afford to complacent because of their success.
