Peyton Manning is an National Football American League quarterback with the Indianapolis Colts. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on March 24, 1976. His father, Archie Manning, was the starting quarterback for the New Orleans Saints. His older brother is the current starting quarterback for the New York Giants.
Peyton Williams Manning started playing football at Isidore Newman High School in New Orleans. He then went on to play college football at the University of Tennessee where he was selected in 1998 by the Indianapolis Colts as their first draft pick.
Today, Peyton Manning still has some of the top NFL passing records including the record for most touchdown passes in a single season which occurred in 2004 with 49 touchdown passes. He also has the most passes of any student at the University of Tennessee.
After high school he was the most highly recruited player for college. However, rather than choosing the University of Mississippi where his father and older brother attended, he chose to attend college at the University of Tennessee. Peyton became the universities leading passer with over eleven thousand yards with 863 completed passes and 89 total touchdowns. As a started he was able to compile a record of 39-6. Out of 1,381 passes in his college carrier there were only 33 interceptions.
In 2003 Peyton became the co-MVP with Steve McNair from the Tennessee Titans. In 2004, he became the highest paid player in the NFL with a 99.2 million dollar signing contract and a 34.5 million dollar signing bonus. This means he makes about 14.17 million a year.
