NFC West
By Kris Lazaro (10/10/2006)
The best team in the NFC West is the Seattle Seahawks. They ran through this division in 2005 without any problems, and found themselves in the Super Bowl at the end of the season. Even though they eventually lost the big game to the Pittsburgh Steelers, they did show how good they were time and time again. The Seahawks are in great shape to make the same kind of run in 2006. But before they do so, they will need to compete well against the other teams in the NFC West. Their competitors are not the best teams in the league, but they are more than capable of making some noise throughout the course of the season.
The St. Louis Rams are looking to bounce back after a poor showing in 2005. They should not have any problems doing so behind quarterback Marc Bulger. In addition, the Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers should both be well improved. All three of these teams will be putting pressure on the Seahawks from the very start of the season. It will be interesting to see if the Seahawks can pull away early on, or if one of the other three NFC West teams can keep things close enough to make them interesting down the stretch run.
There is no doubt that the Seahawks are the team to beat in the NFC West. But if they do not watch what they are doing they may end up losing out to one of the other up and coming teams in the division.
