NCAA Drug Testing
By Michael Williams (2/14/2007)
We are well aware that performance enhancing drugs are free available for sportsmen to take. It comes as a breath of fresh air to see NCAA drug testing college athletes. It is about time, we get a grip of the situation and offer assistance, education to these young athletes.
With rampant use of performance enhancing drugs amongst professional athletes, professional sports are beginning to get a bad image and caused undue pain and damage to athletes and their families.
The NCAA drug testing policy will deter college athletes from taking performance enhancing drugs and we can in a position to stop them from imitating their idols and heroes in the professional circuit. These young athletes do not realize that the drugs can caused undue damage in the long run. The short term gains might be there because of the drugs but it causes long term effect and the results can be devastating to the athletes.
It is a pity that MLB took so long to ban steroids and other performance enhancing drugs. However, better late than never. Now MLB has to ensure that stricter penalties are meted out players who indulge in steroids and other drugs.
NCAA drug testing has multiple benefits. Not only does it prevent drug use, but it helps to educate students through positive reinforcement and teaches them that nothing beats hard work and dedication. It helps college athletes to take the moral and ethical path to success.
NCAA has a lot of information on its website on drug testing and educating college athletes on the ills of performance enhancing drugs
