Los Angeles Clippers To Trade Corey Maggette
By Michael Williams (3/8/2007)
The Los Angeles Clippers are all set to trade Corey Maggette and have already announced what they want in lieu of the trade. This was informed by an NBA executive who recently had a discussion with the Clippers’ management. He further informed that the Clippers had put forth three demands for trading Maggette, which included providing a strong and solid veteran player, a young player who has immense potential and a future first round draft pick. The young player and the first pick is considered to be vital for the team’s future in 2008.
According to an undisclosed source, various NBA teams are approaching the Clippers for the deal and as result the Clippers now have more than one offer in their hands. The source also said that the Clippers have still not made a decision and are in the process of looking through all the offers. The best offer among these is the one that has been made by Miami Heat. It is believed that the Miami offer is exactly what the Clippers wanted and for the moment it looks like Maggett would be traded to them. Miami Heat is ready to give up veteran player James Posey, a youngster Dorrell Wright and another player as a future first round draft pick.
If the Clippers accept Miami’s trade off then head coach Mike Dunleavy would be a bit more relaxed. James Posey would be able to provide Clippers with an edge in the defense while being quite effective even in offense and would not require too much effort coaching which has been part of the problem with Maggette. Dorrell Wright, who earlier attended the South Kent Prep High School in Lawndale, California, has been dubbed as a player with tremendous potential and is considered to be one of the rising stars of NBA.
