Long Winning Streak Snapped Betting System
By Michael Williams (7/26/2006)
When a tean is in the midst of a long winning
streak, how many times have you told yourself or heard others say that they will
bet on the team the day after they lose. It is very common to think that way.
You know the team is good but you recognize how rare it is for team's to win 7+
games in a row.
The problem with that philosophy is that winning games only improves your
chances to win the next game. Therefore waiting until the team loses is like
throwing away money at the bank. But leaving that aside, we wanted to really see
how team fared after having a 7+ game winning streak snapped.
Betting on them has had winning seasons in 4 of the past 5 full seasons. And has
gone a modest +2 units so far this season. Bounceback games such as this is
generally done best against the same opponent that snapped your winning streak.
Conditioning the set on games that are not the first game of a series yields a
system that is [80-52, +19 units] dating back to the start of the 1999 season
including [8-3, +4 units] this season. The system improves to [53-29, +19 units]
if the game is a non-division rival.
Facing a non-divisional rival will ensure that our team is facing an opponent
that is likely not as motivated as ours.
So as you can see there really is some truth to this fact that a team will tend
to bounce back from having a long winning streak snapped but it helps when our
team gets to face that very same opponent again.
