Cardinals Sign Leinart at Last Minute
Matt Leinart signed his contract to play for the Arizona Cardinals and headed out to the training camp to get to know his new teammates and coach, and to begin practicing for the upcoming season. Everyone on the team is very happy to have Leinart on the team. He will be their new quarterback. Leinart, who was playing college ball at USC could have been drafted last year, but he wanted to finish his senior year. It was a good decision because now he is focused on playing in the NFL.
Head coach Dennis Green is glad to see his pick sign a contract. But this has not always been the case. When negotiations over Leinart’s contract were taking longer than expected, Green became upset and announced to the media his frustrations. Since Leinart has signed a contract, Green says feels better and regrets saying anything against the contract process. Leinart, a former Heisman trophy winner ended up signing a six year contract that will grant him 14 million dollars.
Leinart says he is focused on playing football and feels very thankful to be playing professional football. The Cardinals are hosting their training camp at Northern Arizona State and will be there until August 17th. They will officially start their season next week. The season promises to be a good one with other additions to the team. Larry Fitzgerald and Anguan Boldin have also joined the team. Both players were highly sought after during this year’s draft and should play well this
