Lakers Radmanovic Comes Clean About The Shoulder Injury
By Michael Williams (3/19/2007)
Vladimir Radmanovic has finally come clean about his injured shoulder. Radmanovic, the Los Angeles Lakers forward, has confessed that the injury he sustained on his shoulder during the All Star break was because of a snowboarding accident. He had lied to his team about how it had happened.
Radmanovic told reporters in the locker room that he panicked after the injury and he did know what was going to happen therefore he lied. However, he could keep the truth to himself and he was feeling bad about it. He further added that he has not only let his teammates down but the entire organization by not informing them about how the injury actually happened.
He said that he confessed to the truth because he was not a liar and was embarrassed. He hopes that the team and the fans forgive him for lying. Radmanovic apologized the Phil Jackson, Lakers coach, and Mitch Kupchak, the general manager, for hiding the incident. After suffering from the injury, Radmanovic informed his team that he had slipped and fallen on ice while walking and that resulted in him dislocating his shoulder.
Radmanovic is expected to be out for 2 months because of this injury.
According to coach Jackson, no decision has been made by the Lakers as yet about disciplinary action. There is no doubt that Radmanovic has violated his five year contract with the Lakers which is worth $30.2 million. Kupchak said that the decision regarding disciplinary action would be taken in a few days.
Unfortunately for Radmanovic, he has been a disappointment in the first season of his new contract. He sustained a hand injury early in the season which saw him averaging just 6.9 points with 3.4 rebounds. The Lakers are already plagued by injuries with forward Luke Wilson and center Kwame Brown being sidelined because of sprained ankles.
