Kwame Brown Stole My Cake!
By Michael Williams (2/20/2007)
A man claims that Los Angeles Lakers center Kwame Brown stole his birthday cake while he walking down the street at bar closing time with a $190 cake.
However, the police have informed that they would not be prosecuting Brown for this incident.
Alexander Martinez had reported to the police that he has left his 30th birthday celebration at the Shore Restaurant and Lounge at approximately 1:45 a.m. with a 2 by 2 foot cake, which was uneaten, and walked toward the Blue 32 nightclub. He met Lakers forward Ronny Turiaf who agreed to pose for a photograph with him.
However, outside the Blue 32, Brown came, grabbed the cake and threw it at Martinez. Brown got into a white limousine and left. In the report, Martinez claimed that he did not why Brown tossed the cake at him.
Martinez then walked up to Lamar Odom as he left Pedone’s Pizza and confronted him about the cake. According to the police report, a man believed to be Odom’s bodyguard pushed Martinez into the street, yelling at him to get away from Odom.
Martinez filed the police report 12 hours after the incident. Lakers’ spokesperson, John Black, informed that the team was aware of the incident and had been informed that the prosecutor would not be filing charges. Brown refused to give any comments on the incident and Black did not add any further comments.
The Lakers are on a three game road trip. Brown is averaging 8.7 points and 6.6 rebounds. However, he has not been playing after spraining his right ankle on December 31, 2006. It is expected that Brown would be out for two more weeks.
