Knicks Eddy Curry Might Be An All Star
By Michael Williams (2/20/2007)
Stephon Marbury endorsement of Knicks center Eddy Curry as a likely candidate for All Star has touched Curry a lot. Curry, who is averaging 19.7 points, has a chance of being voted into the All Stars team by the coaches as reserve.
According to Curry, Marbury’s endorsement means a lot to him specially since Marbury, himself, has been an All Star and knows what it takes to get to an All Star Game and what it means to play at the All Star level. Curry said that Marbury’s endorsement has given him a lot of confidence and he thinks that he, Curry, is heading in the right direction with regard to being a player.
However, Curry did nothing to help himself in a recent game against the Nets. He was completely neutralized by Jason Collins and Cliff Robinson. They did a very good job of fronting Curry and denying him the ball in the first half.
Curry also picked up two fouls which he committed against Collins and was removed. Curry was beaten out for the final rebound by Robinson.
Marbury had said that the NBA requires new stars in the All Star game. He felt that this would be the way to get players to work harder as they would have something to look forward to, namely being selected for the All Star game. Marbury further states that Eddy Curry was one of the best centers in the league besides Yao Ming.
Ben Wallace and Dwight Howard could also be selected for the All Star game as reserves. Shaquille O’Neal most probably will not be playing and this means there would be an opening at the starting center slot.
