New Jersey Nets’ point guard Jason Kidd’s wife has filed her own domestic violence restraining order against him a week after Kidd accused her of beating him and extremely cruelty.
According to Joumana Kidd’s attorney Raoul Felder, there was a lot of physical violence and Joumana Kidd had asked the court for a restraining order.
Jason Kidd was served the retraining order obtained by his wife and the every next day Kidd filed for a divorce from his wife stating extreme cruelty and saying that he was an abused spouse. Jason Kidd is 33 years old and he has been married for 10 years to Joumana.
Jason Kidd must pick up his children from the curbside for visits so that Joumana does not violate the protection order filed by Kidd.
The Kidds got married in 1997 and were involved in a domestic violence case in 2001 when Jason was playing for the Phoenix Suns.
In that incident Jason Kidd was arrested when his wife complained to the police that he has slapped her during an argument about feeding their son. The Kidds have three children, an eight year old son and four year old twin daughters.
Kidd has pleaded guilty to spousal abuse. He was fined $200 and was ordered to take anger management classes.
In the divorce papers that Kidd filed, he has portrayed his Joumana Kidd as a jealous and paranoid wife who suspected her husband was cheating and that Joumana Kidd was prone to public outbursts and threats.
