Junior Seau Leaves the NFL
After sixteen years playing professional football, Junior Seau announced his retirement in front of family, friends, and former teammates. Due to injuries suffered over the years, Seau, who is 37, decided it was time to retire. The former linebacker played for both the San Diego Chargers and the Miami Dolphins. He played for the Chargers during their one game in the Super Bowl. Teammates enjoyed playing the game with Seau because of his enthusiasm and dedication to the game.
After being injured, the Miami Dolphins did not renew Seau’s contract. He was having a difficult time finding another team to play on that suited his needs, so he decided to retire. The next step for Seau is unknown. He has many options to explore as other retired pro football players. Known for his comedic antics and powerful speeches, some speculate he may turn to coaching or hosting a sports talk show. Seau seemed very positive about his future and was very positive about his time in the NFL.
Announcing his retirement at the Chargers headquarters allowed Seau to talk with former teammates and offer them some advice. Seau does have some things to look forward to in the future. In November, he will be inducted into the NFL hall of fame. This is a big honor for a player that enjoyed playing the game and was a dedicated member of a team.
