Jered Weaver is Creating Thicker Wallets
By Michael Williams (7/26/2006)
Jered Weaver was 5-0 going into Saturday's bout
against the Athletics. The Athletics had every reason to be motivated and
patient at the plate. After getting a hit to start Friday's game, Lackey pitched
to perfection the following 27 batters. And if you understand the importance of
betting home underdogs in a division rivalry game, you would understand that the
Athletics were the value play.
Well, the contrary was true. Weaver is proving to be one of the toughest young
pitchers in the game. At 6'7", he is likely to be the next right-handed Randy
Johnson. The Angels got rid of his brother for practically nothing to make room
for him in the rotation. Jeff Weaver is a huge joke. A laughing stock. A
worthless piece of sh*t, that did nothing but lose us money.
His brother, on the other hand is putting money in our pockets. Mike Scioscia is
the perfect manager for a young pitcher. Having been a catcher, he knows when to
take a pitcher out. He knows when to keep him in. He is brilliant. Remember the
Angels World Series win? They started John Lackey for Game 7, the first time a
rookie ever started the 7th game of a World Series.
You also remember Francisco Rodriguez in that World Series title year? They
brought him on near the end of the season only to see him smoke his competition.
Rookie pitchers have an advantage in that MLB squads do not have enough scouting
reports on them. There is just not a big enough sample of games to see how they
pitch under all circumstances like there would be against a Jeff Weaver. For
this reason, you should consider betting on Jered Weaver every game this season
so long as there is still doubt as to whether or not he is for reals.
