Jamal Crawford To Miss The Remaining Season Because Of Injury
By Kris Lazaro (5/8/2007)
Jamal Crawford gave lot to the Knicks to cheer. He converted a three point basket to win an important game against Miami Heat. Crawford is now the Knicks second leading scorer and he is averaging 17.9 points per game. However, the euphoria of winning did not last too long for Crawford or the Knicks.
Crawford has been diagnosed with a stress fracture in his right ankle and from the looks of it, he will miss the rest of the regular season. This means that Knicks might find it difficult to even reach the playoffs this season. However, there is hope that Crawford might return in time for the playoffs.
Crawford would mostly probably opt for a surgery to repair the stress fracture. The decision for a surgery is still to be taken. Crawford’s injury comes as a shock to the Knicks as there was no evidence of this injury when Crawford helped the Knicks to defeat Miami Heat 99-93. However, Crawford said that for the last two to three weeks he had a sore right ankle and was getting regular treatments for it which did not help the pain to alleviate.
Crawford said that while playing he felt the pain and after the game with the Heat, the pain became worse so he went for an X-ray and called coach Isiah Thomas the same night to give him the bad news.
Coach Thomas has to find a replacement for Crawford, who has played in all the 58 games this season. Crawford has had more playing minutes than any other teammate and. Crawford, however, believes that the Knicks would do well even without him and he has all hopes of joining his teammates in the postseason.
