How To Spot Scam Sportsbook
By Morgan Dawies (5/2/2007)
Finding the ways to beat the odds is difficult and if a bettor does
make the efforts to check out the sportsbook, it can get a lot worse. Usually
when a bettor is checking out a sportsbook, there are signs which can tell him
whether the sportsbook is a scam or not. It is in the bettor’s interest to keep
an eye out for these signs, otherwise he would be jumping into the lion’s den.
If a sportsbook that never offered a bonus above a certain percentage suddenly
ups the bonus dramatically with a low roll over, your antennae should be up. You
should also avoid sportsbooks who offer high bonus with reduced juice. In fact,
any sportsbook offering anything that looks too good to be true should be
avoided under any circumstances.
Sportsbooks that have obscure line either do not have the volume or are gambling
themselves. Usually when things are not going well for a sportsbook, prices are
increased. A bettor should pay close attention to the sportsbook’s marketing
campaign. If suddenly they do something out of the ordinary, it could mean they
are desperate. Sportsbooks that take too long to pay most probably have
financial problems. This is also true if too many bettors in the same site have
a dispute over not receiving their money. Usually scam sites use the excuse that
auditing is being done and that is the reason why bettors have not received
their payment. This is a stalling technique and in all probability the
sportsbook is deep financial crises.
Always take time to read the sportsbook’s posts in forums. If they are offering
unbelievable offers, then they might be getting ready to pack up after getting
naïve and gullible bettors to part with their money.
This list is indicative and need not be true for all sites. However, if there a
couple of things you find in the sportsbooks that are mentioned here, you should
be extremely careful.
