Grant Hill Injures His Left Pinkie

By Michael Williams (2/20/2007)

Orlando Magic’s Grant Hill has torn a tendon in the pinkie of his left hand. However, there are possibilities that he would play in the next two coming games.

Hill did not play the game against Nets which was played in East Rutherford in New Jersey. There were two reasons behind this. One was on account of the injury to his finger and that other was the team’s plan to rest him in back to back games in season.

Instead of Hill, Keith Bogans started out. Coach Brian Hill reconfirmed that Hill was made to sit out on account of the injury and the team’s plan to rest Hill in back-to-back games. The coach said that it made sense to pick the game against Nets because of the circumstances.

Orlando Magic are playing four games in five days and two games are back to back. They have just finished playing the Washington Wizards in Orlando. They then have to play the Cavaliers in Cleveland followed by a game against the Dallas Mavericks the very next day.

Hill injured his pinkie while trying to block a shot by G DeShawn Stevenson during the game against the Wizards. Stevenson is a former Magic player. The injury occurred in the third quarter of the game. Hill went to the locker room after this but returned to continue playing the game after getting two fingers strapped together.

Hill says that his finger is sore but he intends to play the game against the Cavaliers in Cleveland.

This is the seventh game that Hill has missed this season. Earlier he missed three games because of a sore left foot, then he was rested for three games on back to backs and he missed one game when attended his grandmother’s funeral.
