Golf Betting Odds: How To Use Them
By Morgan Dawies (7/26/2006)
When you start researching how to use golf
betting odds and actually bet on the game of golf, you will find that you only
have about two options of betting. Those options may seem much less complicated
than options when you are betting on other professional sports, however you
still have to do your research to understand what you need to do.
The first way you can choose to bet is by the player. You can choose to bet on
the player you think will win the tournament. This is the most common way to
bet, especially on major tournaments. You can choose the player you think will
win and make your bet. The only bad part about this type of wagering is that you
might not be able to pick a long shot player you want to bet on. The only
players listed will likely be those that are most likely to win or that have won
in the past.
You can also choose to use the “field” and bet on the game of golf in that
manner. This allows you to get odds that vary depending on the golfer listed and
the likelihood for the favorites to win. This may sound confusing at first. The
truth is that if the same elite group of golfers always go head to head for the
top spots, the chances of a longshot winning will be slim and the odds will be
higher. So, betting the field can be a lot more challenging. However, you do
have an opportunity to win a lot this way.
