Expect an Empty Chargers Bandwagon in the 2007 Season
By Michael Williams (2/14/2007)
The Chargers were 14-2 this season. They lost a close game to the New England Patriots. The team will stay in tact. The coach is not going anywhere. The Season Win Total for the 2007 season should surely be high.
But should you bet on them to go over or under? UNDER!
Do not fall for the hype. Just because they got disappointed this season does not mean they will bounce back next year. First, they will have a #1 schedule. Then they will a Schottenheimer that is on his way out the door.
LT will become more frustrated with mediocrity following last season so the team will have difficulty accepting that they are not near as good as last year.
Philip Rivers will be in his second year starting QB. Heard of the Sophomore slump? Well, it will afflict the good old Rivers as it has most QBs in their second season.
Can the Chargers keep their defensive intensity alive? Tough to do so. The Chiefs are getting better. The Broncos will be good again next year. Both these teams have significant amounts of revenge against the Chargers. They will face tougher competition in those 4 games and the tougher #1 schedule. The Raiders might finally win a game against the Chargers.
