Eddie Jones May Be Leaving Memphis Grizzlies
By Michael Williams (2/20/2007)
Eddie Jones would like to part of team that would like to compete for the NBA title rather than staying with a team that has a chance for the no. 1 overall draft pick.
Jones, who earlier played for Temple, informed that there might be a chance he could be waived from Memphis Grizzlies. The Grizzlies have the worst NBA record at 10-30.
There have been rumors circulating that Jones might be soon leaving Memphis. In a press conference, Jones confirmed that these rumors were true. He said that would like to play for a team that could have a chance to win the NBA championship. However, he refused to divulge any thing further other than the fact that he might be waived.
Jones is 35 years old and in the 13th season at NBA. He has played for Los Angeles Lakers, Charlotte Hornets and Miami Heats. He is in the final year of his contract with Grizzlies. The contract is for $15.68 million and this is considered to be the worst season ever for Jones.
In the last 24 games, Jones has averaged just 4.0 points while shooting 29.5 percent from the field. He scored 11 points in a game against the Sixers.
Jones is a three time All Star and has been a member of the NBA all defence second team two time. Jones is convinced that he still has a lot of play left in him to offer a team that has a shot at the NBA title. He feels that he can still defend and make open shots and he is sure that a lot of teams would love to have a player like him.
