Cowboys Terrell Owens Undergoes Surgery
Terrell Owens, Cowboys receiver, underwent a successful surgery to repair a torn tendon in his right ring finger. The surgery took place in Miami.
Owens had injured his finger in the latter part of the season. He informed that his doctor in Miami and Cowboys trainer Jim Maurer stay in contact with each other before the surgery took place. Both, the doctor and Maurer, were in agreement on the diagnosis.
Owens informed that the doctor is extremely optimistic after the surgery. The doctor expects Owens to return to 100 percent fitness in due course while Owens expressed his happiness on undergoing the surgery.
Owens further informed that he would be ready for the 2007 season though did not mention when he would resume catching passes.
When contacted by The Associated Press, Cowboys did not comment on Owens surgery.
The Cowboys are faced with a dilemma on bringing back Owens for the second year of his three year contract. If they bring him back, then the Cowboys would have to pay Owens $3 million roster bonus in June.
The latest surgery on his right ring finger is the second one that Owens has had in the last five months. Earlier he had a plate screwed into the finger after breaking it while blocking in a victory over the Washington Redskins.
Owens caught 85 passes for 1,180 yards and 13 touchdowns which is an NFL high. However, he was beleaguered by drops for a team that had an extremely disappointing season. The Cowboys dropped four of their last five games. They lost their hold on the NFC East and went on to lose to Seattle 21-20 in a wild card playoff game recently.
