College Football Preseason Rankings
By Kris Lazaro (10/10/2006)
Is there anything funnier than the preseason rankings that come out before the college football season? It seems that every year these rankings are taken seriously, but they never end up giving anybody an indication as to how the season will end. Not to mention the fact that there are so many preseason rankings out there that nobody can take them seriously.
The best thing to do when you come across these preseason rankings is to ignore them. You may want to read them for fun, but outside of that they do not really hold any value to anybody. The only thing that matters is the final rankings that come out when the season ends.
If you are interested, you can start your own preseason rankings poll. It seems like everyone else has done so online, so why can’t you? All you have to do is a bit of background research on all of the teams, and then make a decision as to which ones should be ranked where. And of course if you are wrong there is no harm in this; you will not be the only one.
The bottom line is that preseason rankings in the college football world mean next to nothing. Even though a so called expert will make the right picks every so often, most of the time they are as wrong as the next guy. So when you come across these preseason rankings this year simply let them roll off of you with no effect at all.
