College Football Bowl Games
By Kris Lazaro (10/10/2006)
Every year at the end of the college football season bowl games are played as a way of tying up loose ends. In order to qualify for a bowl game a team must have a winning record. For the most part, if a team is above .500 they will get invited to a bowl game because there are so many of them that are in need of teams. But this is not always the case.
Each bowl game chooses their teams based on conference tie ins and overall records of the teams in the nation. For instance some bowls have contracts with two conferences promising that they will take a team from each one if they qualify. In many cases this will be determined by the place within their conference that a team finishes during the regular season.
In addition to college football bowl games being great for the fans, the teams also have a lot of fun as well. Not only do they get to travel to play in a bowl game, but they also get a lot of free stuff along the way. In addition, the teams that play in bowl games also get a payout. This is used by different schools in a variety of ways.
Every year fans wait around for college bowl season to roll around. They are always some great games to watch, and it culminates with the BCS national championship game in early January. It is safe to say that bowl games are some of the most fun games of the year to watch.
