Coach Bobby Cremins Thinks Cougars Can Make It To The NCAAs
By Kris Lazaro (5/8/2007)
Bobby Cremins is in his first season as coach at College of Charleston and he is hoping that his team makes it to the NCCA tournament. Cremins was out of coaching for six years. He then took over the reins of the Cougars and led to a 20 win season to make it to the Southern Conference tournament.
College of Charleston has a record of 20-10 and they play Chattanooga Wofford, Western Carolina Elon and Georgia Southern The Citadel in the first round which will be held at North Charleston Coliseum.
Davidson and Appalachian State are the favorites to win but Cremins has high hopes about his team. He favors his team because they struggled in early in the season and then won 20 games for the first time in three seasons. Cremins thinks that if Cougars play well in the tournament, they would surely make it to the NCCA.
Earlier in the season, it did not look as if the Cougars would do well in the league games. Cremins too admits this. However, something clicked and once they defeated their league rivals Chattanooga 62-60 and this began a an avalanche of wins. The Cougars won 12 out of the next 13 games. There is no doubt that the present Cougars team is not the same as the 1999 Cougars team. That was the last year when College of Charleston made its NCAA appearance under coach John Kresse. However, Cremins thinks that his team has it in them to make it to the NCAA tournament.
