Charlotte Bobcats' Morrison Returns To Home State For First Time As A Pro
By Kris Lazaro (5/9/2007)
Just before his first NBA game against Seattle, Charlotte’s Adam Morrison had to answer a host of question about his memories of Gonzaga, his love for his hometown and the college where he became a college star.
Morrison said that he did not miss going for a class but he did enjoy his college days. However, he now feels that was time to move on.
In his hometown of Spokane, Morrison was very popular after he led Gonzaga to an overall record of 83-12 and 40-2 in the West Coast Conference in his three seasons there. Last year, he was the national leader in scoring and he was averaging 28.1 point and led the Bulldogs to the regional semifinals in the NCAA tournament.
He was the WCC player of the year and finished second for the national player of the year award, just behind Duke's J.J. Redick. Morrison said that he is still in touch with some his former teammates of Gonzaga.
Morrison's first season as a pro has not been easy. He has been trying to adjust to the hectic travel schedule and consecutive games. By the time All Star break came, Morrison was exhausted. However, it looks like the break managed to rejuvenate him and ever since he has been averaging 15.6 points and has scored in double figures in six of the last seven games he has played.
According to Charlotte coach Bernie Bickerstaff, the All Star break helped Morrison to focus better, Bickerstaff thinks that Morrison has now adjusted to being a professional basketball player and managed to make a successful transition from college basketball.
