Charges To Be Dropped If Pacman Stays Out Of Trouble
Finally Titans’ cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones has an opportunity to let the public intoxication and disorderly conduct charges against him be dismissed if he can stay out of trouble over the next months.
Rutherford County General Sessions Court Judge David Loughry agreed to dismiss the charges that came as result of an incident in a nightclub in Murfreesboro in August 2006. This will happen only if Jones meets the conditions. Jones has been ordered to stay out of trouble and complete the anger management counseling he has already enrolled in through the NFL.
Jones was ordered by the judge to pay the court costs on the disorderly conduct charge. In the mean time, the judge set a new court date for July 5. If Jones meets all the conditions stipulated by the court, the charges would be dismissed and the case would be expunged.
The judge also ordered Jones to stay away from the Sweetwater nightclub where Jones got into an argument with a woman, refused to leave the club and shouted profanities at the police officers.
Roger May, Jones’ attorney, informed that Jones had started anger management counseling right after the Titans’ season had ended. This was stipulated by the NFL. The NFL has a policy in place that starts anger management counseling after an arrest.
Since joining the team, Jones has faced criminal charges three times. This particular case was filed by the police officers. Jones faced another hearing on a misdemeanor charge of assault on February 1 in Nashville. This was filed by a woman who claims that Jones spit on her at a nightclub in October.
