Carson Palmer Frustrated With Teammates Over Arrests
By Michael Williams (3/8/2007)
In the last nine months Cincinnati Bengals have been making more news for the off-field exploits than on-field play and Carson Palmer has had enough of his teammates who just can not seem to stay out of trouble.
In a recent news conference, Palmer expressed his displeasure and frustration with his teammates who have keep getting into trouble with the law. Palmer felt that it was about time the Bengal players woke and realized where they were heading. He said that the players would just have make better decisions since life was about making right decisions and moving on. He felt that his teammates had not made the right decisions till now.
This outburst came after cornerback Johnathan Joseph was arrested on January 22, 2007 and he was charged with possession of marijuana. With this arrest, Joseph became the ninth Bengals players to get arrested in last nine months.
But arrests were not the only problems Bengals players are facing. Linebacker Odell Thurman and receiver Chris Henry were suspended for misconduct by the NFL. Henry has already been arrested 4 times in the last 14 months and two of his court cases were recently settled, which means that he would be up for another suspension when the 2007 season starts.
Bengals coach Marvin Lewis who is at his wits end is now planning to implement stricter rules and regulations for his players and Palmer supports him whole heartedly.
However, Palmer too is aware that there is not much Lewis can do during the offseason since he is not able to impose a curfew on the players nor call them every night to ensure that they are home.
