Carmelo Anthony And Josh Howard Make It To All Star
By Michael Williams (3/5/2007)
Commissioner David Stern ensured that Carmelo Anthony goes to the All Star game even though he was snubbed by the coaches of the Western Conference when they recently announced the reserves.
Stern picked Anthony as an injury replacement and is all set to make his first appearance in an All Star game on February 18, 2007 in Las Vegas. Anthony said that he was not at all bothered by the fact that he was an injury replacement. For him the most important thing is that he would be going for an All Star game.
Stern has also selected Josh Howard from Dallas to Western Conference team. Stern has the responsibility of selecting replacements for Houston center Yao Ming and Utah forward Carlos Boozer, who will not be playing at the All Star game because of injuries.
Howard will also be playing for the first time in an All Star game. Howard has an average of 19.6 points with 7.3 rebounds. Howard said that he was happy to be selected and now all he wanted to do was go for the All Star game and represent Western Conference.
Anthony has an average of 30.8 points but missed out being selected to the All Star game after fans did not vote for him. Then came the next shock when the West coaches did not select him as a reserve. Many thought that Anthony was being punished for his role in the fight in December at the Madison Square Garden. NBA has suspended Anthony for this misdemeanor for 15 games.
Stern said he did not take Anthony’s 15 game suspension when he decided to select him as an injury replacement.
