Canada To Meet USA For Global Junior Title
By Michael Williams (3/8/2007)
Canada is all set to defend its NFL Global Junior Championship title when the game is played at Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale on February 3, 2007. If they manage to win, it would be the third successive win.
However, this time round Canada would have to overcome a formidable opponent. They will be facing Team USA who is representing South Florida high schools of Broward and Miami Dade counties and the team’s head coach is Mark Guandolo.
Jason Taylor, NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year, will do the coin toss while Emitt Smith, a former Dallas Cowboy and University of Florida running back, will be one of the spectators watching the game and hoping that Team USA can pull off a win.
In the first round of play, both Canada and Team USA were undefeated. Canada first defeated France 14-0 and then won 7-0 against Japan. While Team USA won 27-0 against Panama and they then defeated Mexico.
Coach Guandolo said that the Canadian team have been coached very well, plus they have been together for a long time. However, he still expected the game to be a great one and said that Team USA would have use speed in order to produce results.
Japan and Mexico will play each for the third place and this is a repeat of last year. While France will play Panama for the next position.
All games will take place on February 3 and the first game of the day between France and Panama is scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m.
