Broncos Are Hoping That Dre’ Bly Agrees To The Trade
By Michael Williams (4/3/2007)
Dre’ Bly is definitely not happy about being traded to Denver and would prefer to play for Washington and the Broncos have heard about Bly’s grouse. The Broncos are now giving Bly some time to get used to the idea and are not pressurizing him.
Washington Post had reported that Bly preferred playing for the Redskins as they are based closer to his home.
The Broncos have recently acquired Bly from Detroit along with Tatum Bell, a sixth round pick, and George Foster, a fifth round pick.
Assistant head coach in-charge of defense, Jim Bates, is hoping that Bly comes around. Bates said that Bly would soon see the benefits of being part of a great football team and organization. Bates did acknowledge that he had not spoken to Bly personally. However, coach Mike Shanahan and general manager Ted Sundquist had spoken to Bly. Bates further added that he did not know what Bly was thinking but hoped that in the next few weeks he would become positive because once the team started playing, it needed positive players.
According to Bates, Bly would be playing corner for the Broncos and the team expects him to get all charged up and motivated.
Bly has 33 career interception which is the fourth most in the league since 1999. In his entire professional football career, Bly has 5 interceptions for touchdowns.
Broncos are keeping their fingers crossed and hoping that Bly reconciles to the trade. Bates said that the team had heard his remarks since the trade came into effect and hoped that he would accept playing opposite Champ Bailey.
