Bringing Home The Cup
The Stanley Cup, which is the heralded prize of hockey, makes day visits to each of the winning teams homes. This adventure can sometimes cause the trophy to be damaged or dented while staying at a players home or on the road. The Stanley Cup, usually housed in the NHL hall of fame begin traveling after players wanted to hold it and have it in their homes at least for a little while. Inviting friends and family over to see the trophy is the proud moment all players dream of.
The Stanley Cup is chaperoned wherever it goes. So that the cup stays in good condition, it is only allowed a one day visit in each of the player’s homes. Players will hold it, move it around their homes, take it outside, and show many people that they have won it. The cup will then move on to another player’s home until all players have had a chance to show it off.
The Stanley Cup is more than just a symbol, it is proof that a person has made it in their career and can hold a trophy that is not held by many. Literally bringing home the Stanley Cup if only for a day is a testament to all the hard work and sacrifice that player’s and their families have endured to make this dream come true. The trophy will them go back to the hall of fame where it will sit until the next playoff game of the season.
