Brett Favre Prefers The Bone Spurs
By Michael Williams (2/9/2007)
With the season over for the Green Bay Packers, Brett Favre has decided not to go through with the ankle surgery.
Mike McCarthy, Packers coach, informed that Favre had not gone through with the arthroscopic surgery on his left ankle. Favre, who is a three time MVP, has decided to put off the procedure for another year. McCarthy informed that it was the seventh year in a row that Favre had decided not to go through with the surgical procedure.
The decision not to have surgery has no correlation with the question whether Favre will return to Packers the next season as he has been playing with the bone spurs in his ankle for a number of years now.
Favre had mentioned his reluctance to go through with the surgery. He mentioned that he was used to the pain and limited motion of his ankle. According to Favre, the pain was worse during practice sessions. The ankle is painful but Favre thinks that there are many people who go through similar things.
McCarthy informed the media that Packers’ general manager Ted Thompson and he had met Favre to inform him that the team wanted him back the next season and that the team has not given Favre any deadlines to make a decision.
Ultimately Favre would have to make a decision specially since he knows the fact about the bone spur buildup on his ankle. And Favre knows very well that the team has not made any promises to target specific free agent in an attempt to get him to return.
