Bill Parcell Retires From NFL

Dallas Cowboys’ coach Bill Parcells has retired from the professional football. On January 22, 2007, he decided to bid adieu to This 65 year old NFL head coach had the rare distinction of being a two time Super Bowl winner, and he joined the Dallas four seasons ago.
He had phenomenal success in guiding New York Giants to win the Super Bowl two times in 1987 and 1991. He also coached the New England team to reach the final of 1997 Super Bowl.
On his retirement decision, Bill Parcells expressed gratitude to all the players, colleagues and officials who have been associated with him during all these years. He said that he was fortunate enough to have worked with NFL for such a long period.
He joined the Cowboys with the sole objective of restoring the team to its former glory. However, even under his stewardship, the team was unable to win a playoff. Parcell announced his retirement 15 days after the Cowboys lost the playoff to Seattle Seahawks. The Cowboys lost the game 21-20.
Parcells had an overall 34-32 win-loss record with the Dallas at the time of his retirement. Many thought that Parcell would continue as the Dallas coach for the fifth season. However, he decided to call it quits after 20 seasons in the NFL.
Cowboys, who have reached the Super Bowl eight times, have not been able to pull off a win in a playoff since 1996. They had a poor run in this season which was suppose to be the worse in history of the club.
