Big East Conference
By Kris Lazaro (10/10/2006)
Ever since Miami and Virginia Tech left the biggest football conference for the ACC, critics from all over have been saying how the conference was on its way out. Even though the Big East Conference is not as strong as it once was, it does deserve more credit.
When it comes down to it the Big East Conference does have some very good football schools, and are looking to prove this when the 2006 season gets underway within the next couple of weeks. The two big dogs in the Big East Conference are Louisville and West Virginia. Both of these schools have proven over the last couple of years that they should be at the top of the class when it comes to major college football programs.
In addition to those two schools, there are a few others that are on their way up as well. The two most notable are Rutgers and South Florida. Both of these teams have been at the bottom of the pile for quite some time, but they are finally working there way into the cream of the crop. It will be interesting to see if these two teams can make a run at the conference title in 2006.
The bottom line is that the Big East Conference does not get as much respect as it should in the college football world. If teams from this league can continue to win games over the next few years the respect will be sure to follow closely behind.
