Football - Big Ben & The Upcoming NFL Season

Ben Roethlisberger has received quite a bit of publicity in the past year. Not only has this Pittsburgh Steelers player seen victory in Super Bowl XL but he also escaped near death in a motorcycle accident which occurred in Pittsburgh on June 12, 2006. He received multiple injuries such as a broken jaw and other breaks in the facial bones. Due to the motorcycle accident, many fans were wondering whether or not he would be ready for training camp during the summer.

Ready or Not

Although Ben Roethlisberger had to undergo serious surgeries to repair his broken facial bones, the chances of this renowned Steelers player to hit the field in time for summer training camp are quite good. After having a few weeks to recover and regroup, Roethlisberger showed up at the Pittsburgh Steelers office looking like his old self. With that said, fans, team members and all others can rest easy knowing that Roethlisberger appears to be ready to suit up and join his team on the field.

Roethlisberger has even spoken out about the accident, stating that the medical staff had informed him about how serious his condition was at the time of the accident. He was informed that he was quite close to not pulling through in the event that he did not receive the necessary medical attention in time. This appears to have shaken Roethlisberger quite a bit and given him a new appreciation for the fragility of life.
The events which had occurred this summer seem to evidence that Roethlisberger really is the strong and capable individual who everyone thought he was before the accident. An incident such as this one certainly does not appear to be keeping Roethlisberger down and individuals can expect to see him on the field this season.
