Baseball Betting - an introduction
By Mike Fisher (6/13/2005)
Baseball has often been called the national pastime of America; the total attendance for Major League games is equal to attendance to all other American professional team sports combined. Betting is naturally centered round the major league, MLB, and World Series games but some bookmakers also provide baseball betting on college league and foreign baseball leagues.
Baseball is also very popular in East Asia. In Japan, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Panama, South Korea, Taiwan.
Major League Baseball (MLB) is since 1920 the collective name for North America´s two top leagues, the National League and the American League.
Major League Baseball is administrated by the Major League Constitution. Major League Baseball, under the direction of its Commissioner, hires and maintains the sport´s crews, and centrally negotiates marketing, labor, and television contracts.
World Series
The World Series is the championship series of Major League Baseball, played in October after the regular season between the winners of the American League and the National League. The World Series are played through a best-of-seven schedule and the winner is awarded the World Series Trophy. The World Series has been an annual event since 1903, and the New York Yankees, winners of 26 championships, have the most World Series titles.
