Assault Charge Against Adam Jones Dismissed
By Michael Williams (3/8/2007)
On October 26, 2006, Titans cornerback Adam Jones was accused of spitting in a woman’s face after having an argument with her in a nightclub in Nashville.
Now that the case came up for hearing, the judge decided to dismiss the assault charges against Jones because the judge felt that there were too many inconsistencies in the woman’s testimony.
Judge John Aaron Holt who presided over the case felt that Krystal Webb, the woman who accused Jones of spitting, gave inconsistent testimony about the time when she noticed the spit in her hair and wiped it off and about when she realized who Jones was. The judge informed Webb that she still had the option of pursuing a civil lawsuit against Jones. Webb and her lawyer refused to comment on the ruling passed by Judge Holt.
When the incident came to light, Jones was suspended for one game on November 5, 2006 as punishment and he was fined $100,000 by NFL. Jones now hopes to get the money back from NFL considering that the charges against him were dismissed.
After the ruling, Jones said that he now has to find ways and means of protecting himself from people who are out to get money from him. He was very happy that the judge made a decision in his favor and was pleased that the truth came out.
Last August, Jones was charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct after getting into an argument with a woman in a nightclub. The charges against him would be dropped he manages to stay out of trouble for six months.
