All Star Revenue
By Michael Williams (2/26/2007)
It is safe to say that whatever city gets to host the All Star game makes a lot of money. If you have never thought about how much money the All Star break brings into any city maybe you should.
The first thing that comes to mind as far as All Star revenue is concerned is the amount of money that the hotels make. In addition to the players having to stay all week long, the families also have to as well in many cases. Not to mention the fact that all of the out of town fans also need lodging.
On top of the hotels that receive tons of revenue, the restaurants in the area will also do the same. While the fans and players are in town they need somewhere to eat; so this obviously makes the restaurant owners in the city very happy.
There are also smaller revenue streams that you have probably never even thought of. Attractions such as malls and museums also get to play off of the All Star break festivities. This is addition to the rental car outlets and the limo services that are based in the city.
Overall, the All Star break is more than just a baseball game and the players that show up. It is about making money for the city and the people in it. Whatever city has the honors of hosting the Major League baseball All Star game also gets the honor of bringing in a lot of money.
