All Star Red Carpet
By Michael Williams (2/26/2007)
If you did not get the chance to see the players head from the Convention Center to the stadium during the All Star festivities you missed out on one of the best parts of the break.
On Monday, all of the participants got to ride in a car from the Convention Center to PNC Park. But this was not any normal car ride; they got to do this in spectacular fashion.
In addition, to all of the fans cheering them on, they also got to ride in the back of a Chevy Avalanche with their family, friends, or other celebrity. The course to the stadium was also something that everybody will always remember. Traffic was shut down, and a red carpet was rolled out for the players. This went across the Roberto Clemente Bridge all the way up to the stadium. It was just about the longest red carpet of all time!
Sure, the city did not have to do this for the players that made the game. But since they were good enough to get here, doesn't it make sense to give them the treatment that they deserve? After all, these are the best players in the world and they deserve this type of treatment.
Even though the All Star game will not be in Pittsburgh again for quite some time, it is safe to say that this experience will always be remembered by anybody that was involved. For the fans sake, hopefully next years festivities will be just as exciting and rewarding for everybody concerned.
