All Star Break
By Michael Williams (2/26/2007)
The All Star break in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania this year was a successfully one. From the beginning of the festivities to the end it appeared that the fans were having a great time. In addition to the thousands of locals that showed up in Pittsburgh for the game, there were also many more out of town people that made the trip. This made the city quite hectic for a few days, but it was definitely well worth it.
The All Star break festivities kicked off with the Fan Fest at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. It was here that fans had the ability to get up close and personal with their favorite players of today, as well as some from the past. In addition, there was a lot of memorabilia and souvenirs for sale. It is safe to say that a lot of money changed hands during the few days that this event took place.
And of course there were the festivities that took place at PNC Park as well. On Monday night the Home Run Derby drew a lot of fans both in and outside of the stadium. And the culmination was the game on Tuesday night; one that the American League won in dramatic fashion.
The All Star break was a success for the league as well as the city of Pittsburgh. The fans can only hope that things go as smoothly next year and the years to follow. After all it is one of the best times of the year.
