According To Agent Roger Clemens Not To Interested In The Cardinals
By Michael Williams (3/19/2007)
If the Cardinals are interested in signing up Roger Clemens, he does not know it. This was disclosed by his agents recently when Clemens was about to give some batting practice to Astros Minor League players.
Randy Hendricks, Clemens’ agent, said that only Houston, New York and Boston would be the teams that Clemens would play for and according to Hendricks, Clemens still had not made up his mind as to which team he would like to join.
A St Louis Post Dispatch report had mentioned that Walt Jocketty, Cardinals general manager, was interested in Clemens if Clemens was interested in signing for another team besides the Astros, Red Sox or Yankees.
Jocketty mentioned that Cardinals had always been interested in Clemens but he was not sure about Clemens wanting to join the team. Jocketty further went on to say that it would be difficult doing a deal with Clemens but one never knew; maybe the deal would be successful.
Though Hendricks praised the Cardinals, he emphatically stated that Clemens had all intentions of playing in the National League and that he would play for Houston Astros. Clemens, on the other hand, was not as emphatic as his agent. He said that he had still not made up his mind and would do in a couple of weeks.
Clemens is 44 years old and at the moment seems content to be helping out at the Minor League mini camp. He has not thought about pitching in 2007 and his agent does not want to give hopes to those teams who do not have a chance of signing him.
